Type data   Holotype (pr: H 22.5 mm, L 19.9 mm, D 7.8 mm) Zoological Museum, University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam (ZMA Moll. 3.94.002). Type locality: Thailand, off Phuket Island, Kai Islet, 7*44'N, 98*37'E, 7-25 m, alive amongst coral rubble and rocks on sand, leg. local compressor diver, March 1992.
Description

  Shell up to ca. 23 mm high, solid, inflated, somewhat higher than wide, nearly equivalve and equilateral, auricles unequal in sizeand shape, umbonal angle ca. 90 degrees, brightly coloured with orange, pink and purple, creamy umbonal region, right valve paler.

  Both valves sculptured with 8 radial lirae, secondary riblets in interspaces. Delicate shagreen microsculpture throughout. Anterior auricle of left valve radially sculptured with 7 delicate riblets, posterior with 5. Byssal notch shallow. Functional ctenolium on suture with 3 teeth. Internal plicae.

Habitat  Living sublittorally amongst coral rubble on sandy bottoms.
