| Description | Shell up to ca. 25 mm high, left valve slightly more inflated than right valve, oblong, nearly equivalve, inequilateral, auricles strongly unequal, umbonal angle ca. 80-85 degrees, colour creamy orange, sometimes purple or yellow orange, with dark orange or red-brown spots, right valve paler. Both valves sculptured with 7-9 primary radial lirae, 1-2 intermediate, and riblets laterally. Delicate shagreen microsculpture in the interspaces throughout. Anterior auricle of left valve radially sculptured with 9-11 delicate riblets. Byssal notch moderately deep, byssal fasciole narrow. Functional ctenolium on suture (6 teeth). Internal plicae. |
