| Description | Shell up to ca. 60 mm high, most specimens smaller to ca. 40 mm, weakly inflated, almost equally convex, opisthogyrate, elongate, inequivalve and inequilateral, auricles strongly unequal, umbonal angle 85-90 degrees, colour polychromatic. Valves with ca. 24-36 (lv 24-30, rv 30-36) irregularly spaced, scaly radial ribs (different in prominence). Ribs on right valve somewhat weaker than of left valve. Byssal notch deep, byssal fasciole broad. Functional ctenolium well-developed with 5-7 teeth. |
