Type data   Holotype (lv: H 9.10 mm) National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research at Wellington (NIWA). Type locality: S New Zealand, Bounty Trough, 45*48.8'S, 174*30.5'E, 1586 m, alive, RV 'Tangaroa', 26.x.1979 (stn S151).
Description

  Shell up to 10 mm high,extremely thin and fragile, nearly circular, equivalve of sculpture, compressed, inequilateral, left valve more convex than right valve, auricles unequal, anterior auricle somewhat larger than posterior one, umbonal angle ca. 90 degrees, translucent, colourless.

  Left valve smooth apart from low, broadly rounded, commarginal undulations. Posteromarginal area of disc somewhat elevated. Auricles, with weak commarginal growth lines, poorly demarcated from disc. Right valve with weak, irregular, commarginal undulations and fine commarginal growth lines. Byssal gape rather deep, no byssal fasciole or ctenolium.

Habitat   Living lower bathyally from foraminiferal ooze.
